This handmade whale shark suncatcher was created to reflect the calm strength and steady presence of one of the ocean’s most gentle giants. The whale shark itself measures approximately 5 1/2 inches tall by 3 inches wide, with an overall hanging length of about 17 inches including the crystal accents.

The main body of the whale shark is made from iridescent glass. When sunlight passes through, the glass shifts softly, creating changing light and depth throughout the day. The tail is crafted from water glass, adding movement and texture that mirrors flowing water. Each spot along the body is carefully hand painted, giving the whale shark its own unique character. The entire piece is wrapped in hobby came, creating a smooth, finished edge.

As the light moves through the glass, cool blues and subtle reflections are cast into the surrounding space. Each piece is cut, wrapped, soldered, painted, and finished entirely by hand. Natural variations in glass texture, color shift, and hand painted details ensure that every suncatcher is one of a kind.
