Moving With The Current

This handmade manta ray suncatcher was designed to move with the light. The manta ray itself measures approximately 4 1/2 inches long by 5 inches wide, with an overall hanging length of about 11 1/2 inches including crystal accents.

The body is created using layered green shifting glass and iridescent textures that change as the light moves. The only dichroic glass used in this piece is in the manta’s horns, allowing flashes of color without overwhelming the design.

When sunlight passes through, this suncatcher casts a soft purple shadow with hints of teal across the wall, creating a calm, ocean like glow that shifts throughout the day.

Each piece is cut, foiled, soldered, and finished by hand. Due to the nature of art glass, color variation and light patterns will always be unique.

Moving with the current  
The manta ray glides without hurry, carried by the water instead of fighting it. Its strength is quiet, steady, and sure. This piece was created to reflect that same calm movement.
